Hardcore soundscapes
An instrumental 'Intro' opens the self-titled new EP from Bournemouth hardcore five piece In Your Honour, it begins with a simple riff but quickly layers are added until it suddenly becomes chunky and heavy with some lovely duel guitars. 'The Worst Is Yet To Come' has nice crunchy guitars and screamed (but understandable) vocals with a sung melodic section running underneath. In Your Honour love to layer and it makes for some great sweeping moments; this tune in particular has soaring guitars and keys over intense double kick drum and raw vocals, a cracking tune. 'Futures' has a great combination of catchy gang vocal shouts and punk infused main vocals with well placed washes of keys and guitar. The formula for this EP is a winner, those epic soundscapes over the raw, intense energy of the hardcore makes for an emotional and heady combination. Some interesting ideas here and pulled off to great effect.
