Kids We Used To Be - And We Would Have Gotten Away With It Too

Kids We Used To Be are an alternative six-piece from Liverpool who are fresh onto the music scene. However, though they are only in the youthful stages of their music career, they've managed to bag support slots nationwide with Page 44, The Story So Far and Paige to name but a few. We all know the music industry is no easy walk in the park, but their first release, And We Would Have Gotten Away With It Too, is a very promising start.

This band aren't messing around at all; they plunge straight into the energetic 30 Down, which emits a wealth of vitality and will undoubtedly be fantastic when performed live. Holding a nice balance between pop-punk and screamo, it's a cracking opening track to this EP.

Hey Aqualung is similarly a blend of clean vocals and throaty screaming, and it's one that will easily get stuck in your head, whether you like it or not. The chorus is laced with hooks and catchy lyrics, and I daresay you'll be aching to see them live by this point. Man, I Hate Your Friends provides us with much more of the same infectious melodies and a mixture of smooth and blunt vocals.

Nothing Good Happens after 2AM, the concluding song to the five-track EP, is yet another example of pop-punk deliciously blended with alternative elements, and shows that this band are not going to wither away into the background of the music industry without putting up a bloody good fight.

The problem with new and emerging bands is that sometimes there just isn't an audience who will accept them, but these guys have nothing to worry about. They will surely be welcomed with open arms by fans of bands like Bring Me The Horizon and You Me At Six. As a first release, the EP would be expected to be a little disjointed in places, but this is really something to be proud of.
