A catchy little number

Midlands based (unsigned) five piece Age have some cracking tunes on their EP “Useless Souvenirs”, opening track ‘Battery’ has a great melody, the sound lying somewhere between the slightly punky raw catchiness of Jetplane Landing and the melodic rock of Gratitude. The record continues to impress quietly, title track ‘Useless Souvenirs’ has a really addictive chorus and is full of solid riffs, the anthemic and slightly grungy ‘Stars Resemble Nothing’ takes a different tack with heavier (verging on metal) riffs and great vocal harmonies, ‘Your Last Day’ rocks some sing along vocal lines and a super catchy main riff and final track ‘I’m Not Done’ is a bouncy little gem with an almost pop-punk feel. While still a bit rough around the edges this EP shows real promise and is bristling with ideas. Age are onto a good thing.
