Dreamy and dark prog-metal

“Overflow” is a blend of prog-rock and metal with a big fuzzy sound; chunky riffs open ‘The Colours And The Shapes’ and some really nice, ultra low bass, the vocals croon away in the background, often hidden under the fuzz a bit. The band site influences from Tool, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Led Zeppelin and Alter Bridge amongst others and this list sums up their sound well, sections from all the tracks can be pinpointed to certain bands/genres, that’s not to say it’s not cohesive, because it is, just a touch derivative at times. ‘Useless’ is another dark and low track; it’s also very tuneful which is something that all the tracks have in common; a thread of pretty catchy melody. ‘Horizon’ has a great opening, dreamy Cure-esque bass leads into distorted vocals and a nice slow section with a decent solo half way breaking things up; this is probably the best track. This is a solid EP, not setting the world alight but pretty enjoyable and it’s available to download for free now.
