All Guns Blazing - Revelations

Having already signed with prestigious metal label Rising Records (Trigger The Bloodshed, Bleed From Within, The Argent Dawn) and built up a solid reputation touring, things are certainly looking up for Bath metallers All Guns Blazing.

With the release of their debut album now under their belts too, it’s not going to be long until this British band are catapulted from underground heroes to Kerrang! cover stars.

‘Revelations’ is a strong and superb record that features 40 minutes of fast-paced, aggressive metal and hardcore. The 11-track album is ideally suited for fans of bands such as 36 Crazyfists, It Dies Today, Hatebreed and Parkway Drive.

The rowdy debut release is packed with vicious vocals from Tom Smith, boisterous beats courtesy of drummer Tom Pepler and raucous riffage from Jesse Mitchell, Chris Applegate and Max Evans.

Opening track ‘The Reaper’ is extremely inviting and lures the listener into the record with demonic-like screams, gripping guitars and dynamic drumming.

Throughout ‘Revelations’ the quintet experiment and flirt with their heavy sound, meaning no two songs sound the same, which is a total rarity with bands these days.

Prime examples of the group’s musical diversity include hard-hitting ‘Never Forgotten’, ‘deliciously destructive ‘Dirty Work’ and intensely intricate ‘Vultures Among Men’, which features gang vocals.

The amalgamation of different genres and styles is very effective, as ultimately the record accommodates a wider audience and offers something for metal, metalcore, hardcore, screamo and even post-hardcore fans.

Every song on the album is appealing and somewhat addictive, chances are you’ll find yourself playing this release over and over again. Who knows… it might even be your record of the year!

Particularly memorable tunes include ‘As The Priest Rips Out His Eyes’ (which is incorporated in the disturbing album artwork), burly ‘Distorted Eminence’ and equally brutal ‘Cost of Diligence’.

The 11 tracks on this record are guaranteed to sound mind-blowing when performed live and will undoubtedly increase the band’s following.

All Guns Blazing are talented musicians and have quite clearly put a lot of thought, effort and time into ‘Revelations’. The boys from Bath have done themselves proud and produced an outstanding debut album, which will please fans of many alternative genres.

The ferocious five-piece have great potential, if the metal mob’s second release is as sturdy as their debut they could definitely follow in the footsteps of fellow Englishmen Bring Me The Horizon and achieve commercial success.
