One to grow on you

At first you may think of ‘Ordinary Girl’ to be quite a flat tune, but don’t let first impressions take hold of your lasting ones.

This is not an electric song that pounds all the way through with guitar riffs; it only includes a simple twenty-second demonstration of this, which unfortunately doesn’t leave a enduring thought. Unfortunately, although melodies are fairly subtle pop rock, nothing particularly alters from verse to chorus apart from the vocals, which become the main element that keeps the listener in touch with the song. Matthew’s vocals add more depth and melody to the chorus and are able to use a higher pitch.

Even though the song isn’t anything new, flashy, electrifying or a beautiful ballad, it is a gentle, wonderfully projected song and something a listener can hear repeatedly without a sense of boredom but enjoyment for its subtlety and effectiveness. ‘Ordinary Girl’ is well polished, but needs a little bit more of a shine.
