Fuzzy, mathy, melodic
Million Dead and Yourcodenameis:milo come to mind on 'Consolation Prize', must be those fuzzy riffs and complex rhythms, but often the guitars on this EP from These Waves are more mathy and jagged than both those bands. Their tunes are slightly off kilter but always seem to be melodic, with really nice vocals and they bring everything together well with never an awkward moment; they make it all sound easy. 'These Questions Need No Answers' flits around, pulling those complex drums, staccato guitars and lovely rich riffs together with a memorable melody and 'Waiting Game' is even better; what a great tune, so catchy and the variety of styles from the guitar is fantastic.
