Perfect Chill Out
Haale, singer of The Mast, is no stranger to us at R13. We have seen her play at SXSW way back in 2007 as part of her own band, which is well worth checking out by the way. Now the New Yorker is singing as part of The Mast.
The style of music has remained the same, beautiful, chilled out but yet still with a friendly rocking feel to it. 'The Lake' continues with this trend perfectly. Matt Kilmer expertly on frame drum and Haale's vocals and guitar work perfectly together, with a kind of ethnic Iranian meets Jimi Hendrix feel to the song, although not quite as chaotic as Mr Hendrix.
This should really appeal to fans of bands like Warpaint and the ilk. 2011 already looks like it will a great year as The Mast are due to release their album, now could it get even better and get them over here in the UK? Let's hope so.
