Chupa Cabras - Incivilta

When you see the band name Chupacabras (the infamous goat sucker) a pigeon-hole instantly starts to form, and as the CD started to play that pigeon-hole was immediately filled with pigeon; generic European Metal pigeon.

Title track 'Incivilta' is also the opening track, musically it's not too bad, vocally not too bad, lyrically.... I have no idea. The track was quite pleasant to listen to, despite not having the slightest clue what its about. 'Rabbia' was not so pleasant to listen to, while it starts heavy, it slips in and out of a weird blend of metal which has been water down with pop. The vocal work is weak, the clean vocals sound whining and off key, and I couldn't wait for the track to be over.

Unfortunately the effect of 'Rabbia' – wanting it to be over – stayed with me for the rest of the album, I soon became bored and restless listening to 'Incivilta', there is nothing on this album to hold my interest and seemed completely uninspired.

Chupacabras are lacking something, they're not necessarily bad, but they just don't stand out, it's hard to even write about this album because it's just so plain, so average, completely mediocre.
I do not know the music of Chupacbra so I cannot gage if this is a good or a bad release for them. Musically, the talent is there, but there's something missing from the puzzle. Lovers of metalcore should enjoy this album, there's nothing not to like, but there's not enough to like on here for me to like.

'Incivilta' is distinctly average I could have summed up this album in one word/sound – meh.
