Meaty and melodic
Always The Quiet Ones have a nice line in meaty riffs and melodic choruses but they mix up their styles; a touch of classic rock here a moment of heavy duty modern metal there, it makes for a refreshing mix – the band is often compared to Biffy Clyro and you can see why, they have that combination of heavy rock and catchy tunes just right, to my mind they also have the punch of Siamese Dream era Smashing Pumpkins.
The two tracks on this single showcase different areas of the Liverpool five piece's sound - Drought is anthemic and punchy, melodic but weighty, fantastic vocals induce sing along moments, and the result is powerful and emotive. Track two, Ghost In The Filament has a classic rock feel; foot stomping beats and some fiddly riffage break into a another catchy chorus complete with backing 'wooh's' another cracker. Definitely ones to watch.
