Experimental Rock

Amoki blend vicious dance samples with hard-hitting melodic rock to create a driving and still inspiring sound. 'The Cleansing' starts with a compulsive rush of digitial noise before mutating into a crazy metal shout-fest with drums like thunder punctuating the frantic 4 minutes. 'Tense Nervous Headache' is based around swirling guitars, hypnotic samples and vocals so raw that you can feel the pain; the tension is certainly both audible, and aggressive enough to crush your cranium, although whether this is a pleasant experience or not depends on your musical orientation. This is definitely not one for indie fans.

'She' builds up a little more mystery in its murky synth intro, laden with heavy riffs and menacing vocal echoes, it peaks in an aural bath of anxious harmonic vocals, "Say goodbye to your suit and your tie, your television, your soothing" they affirm before rocking out again. 'All The Best Plans' wastes no time musing melodically and hits the listener straight away with a vicious onslaught.

'Just A Ride' has a lithe edgy rhythm which keeps the listener on edge while simultaneously hitting them with punchy vocals and a mass of razor sharp guitars. The final offering, 'Ennui' takes a slower pace with spiralling guitars building suspense amongst whispered vocals and resonant percussion. A perfect example of the band's experimental style it reaches 5 minutes including a chilled out nervy phase which keeps it fresh and distinctive.

Amoki have created an interesting, well layered sound that will interest most fans of metal or post-industrial rock, but their tracks do have more than a few echoes of other acts out there. This is a well-played EP and bodes well for Amoki's future success.
