Chromium plated boiling metal
Faster than a laser bullet,
Louder than an atom bomb,
Chromium plated boiling metal,
Brighter than a thousand suns.
Yes I know they're Judas Priest lyrics but they sum up in four sentences what this album is about, so that's it I don't need to write any more, go and listen to some music while you wait for the next review to arrive.
Oh, it seems the editor wont accept that so here's some more to fill my word quota. 'Messiah's Kiss' play metal, nothing else, they don't do techno, jazz, funk metal fusion they just do studded leather gauntlet waving metal, probably while standing with their feet wide apart and holding their guitars in a sexually suggestive manner.
You know where you are when the first track starts off with a high pitched yeeeaaaahhhhh! big riffs and metal drumming lesson one, there's a chord progression in this song that made me start singing Iron Maiden's Aces high instead. This band is heavily influenced by Maiden and Judas Priest, a fact they're not trying to hide in the slightest, quoting said bands and going on to say that they only want to play classic heavy metal.
Well guys you do just that and I must say this album is great fun to listen to for anyone who likes their metal powerful and not too serious. I can imagine this band going down a storm at festivals, there would be hair everywhere as this was born to be headbanged to.
Title track 'Dragonheart' is a definite homage to Priest bringing to mind Painkiller in seconds, I had to restring my air guitar after that one. Also 'Steelrider' could have come from the priest back catalogue .I thought I was in for the obligatory ballad with 'The Ivory Gates' but they get fed up after a minute of singing slowly and bring on the metal again.
While I'm quoting band names 'Thunders of the night' makes me think of Twisted Sisters 'Nature of the beast'.
I think you know where we are now, we're in no compromise metal land. There aren't going to be any huge awards given out to this band because this stuff just isn't cool in England, however you're all wrong and this stuff creates a cool all of it's own as long as you don't give a monkey's what anyone else says and just enjoy it for what it is. There must always be bands like this, we need to petition the government to make it a law
