Experimental Noise At Its Sinister Best
After doing a little research I discovered that Poptones release All Traps Set is in fact the brainchild of one man going by the name Chris Walmsley. He has previously played drums for bands including Broadcast and The Laughing Window and now has embarked on a unique solo project where he still plays drums, amongst other various percussive sounds.
The single 'Council Of Desperation' is one hell of an experimental journey, through hypnotic percussive beats, screeches, creaks and static. It combines rhythmic eletronic interferences interlaced with white noise and laden with dark and sinister atmospheric undertones. Feedback and fuzz only contribute to the menacing mood entrancing you further into its depths.
B side 'Elysium' provides more of the same unnerving and infectious beats, interspersed with chimes and a synthesised drone it results in a dangerously haunting ambience. This is Aphex Twin in the bgginning. This is experiemental noise at its sinister best.
