Bore-core
Adjudgement, German hardcore stalwarts return with their 6th release (including singles and E.Ps) 'Human Fallout' and it's what you can expect from a typical hardcore release. There is lots of shouting, a plethora and thrashing guitars, a bit more shouting, an abundance of fast drums, some more shouting, a great deal more thrashing guitars, a dash more shouting and erm...that's about it.
The album starts off fairly respectably with 'Life's to Live' and 'Busy Man' because both tracks are doses of classic angst ridden, fire bellied and pissed off music in which there is a certain direction/hook in the actual tune. 'Life's to Live' especially impresses with its appealing chord sequence and effective break down.
Sadly, as it is with most hardcore releases, 'Human Fallout's' lack of actual creativity and minimal variations on the one idea quickly become tiresome as the band forget all ideas of song-writing and degenerate into making a complete row for two minutes or less. The band don't have any riffs to speak off instead they pick a chord sequence and play as fast as they can whilst the vocalist shouts monotone lyrics over the top. Even though this is angry music and supposed to be in your face it couldn't be further from the reality as I found myself drifting off into day-dreamland numerous times for the simple reason that all the tunes are the same. No hooks, no melody, c'mon lads give me something to work with here.
'Let's Dance' is 'Human Fallout' in epic mode as it passes the two and half minute mark although it could be any other track on this album as the only thing to tell all the songs apart is the short gap in between them. At the end of 'Let's Dance' the band break into a drum and shout routine, which was fairly original but it only lasted 12 seconds before the shit boring thrashing continued on 'Ashamed'.
'Pit Fight Sucker' is amusing on an 'I can't believe grown men have written this' level. The lyrics are quite a gem, 'Kick my balls, break my nose, punch my face, knock me out, throw your feet in the air, your elbow drops aint fair,' (elbow drops?) but then again that's hardcore for you.
'Human Fallout' is dull, apart from a few fleeting moments the music is exactly the same from start to finish. It's short running time of just less than half an hour means its value for money is poor but at the same time this is nature of the beast. If you're an angry fucker who needs to kick someone's balls and break some noses at a gig then Adjudgement could be for you. On a hardcore bill this type of music will go down well because I think live the band would cook up a storm, on disc however it all seems pretty lifeless which is odd because its trying to be anything but.
