A Music Weekend Without Wellies " Does That Count?
You could quite easily have been forgiven for thinking that the music world outside of Somerset shut down last weekend and that nothing of any interest happened elsewhere.

Hell no! For this ‘ere website was off checking out two other massive outdoor events just as important, both of which can be linked to goings on in the South West of England if you’re really that keen for a piece of their action.

First up on Friday night, the band many hoped would headline Glastonbury this year brought their outdoor tour to Glasgow Green, and for that authentic touch, it even pissed down!

Then on Sunday night, Jay-z turned up at a field in the South of England where he could be absolutely certain he’d be welcome, part of Linkin Park’s Project Revolution Tour.

Also on the bill were Pendulum, N.E.R.D, Enter Shikari and The Bravery. Go

More Live Stuff
The outdoor fun doesn’t stop there, oh no, not when there’s an eighties hair rock nostalgia thing heading to a sports stadium near you. OK so the hair may be cropped a bit shorter than it used to be, the shoulder pads may have been retired and the haze of hairspray might not waft around them like it used to, but Bon Jovi can still pack a stadium punch like few others.

Let’s be honest, you know what you’re gonna get with a Bon Jovi show, and they still aren’t disappointing as
this review from Coventry shows.

We’ve also been catching
Everytime I die in Portsmouth
Queensryche in Southampton
Stone Gods in London and
Tokyo Police Club also in London.

This Weekend on R13
It’s set to be a busy one, and at the risk of being very focused on one corner of the Country, most of the action happens down in the South East.

The stadium action continues as Iron Maiden bring the ‘Somewhere Back in Time’ tour to Twickenham. Believe it or not, this will be the metal legends first ever stadium date in the UK, and they mark the ocasion with a setlist and stage set based around the 'Power Slave' era of their career.

Down the road in Surrey, Guilfest, one of our favourite festivals is back, and this year serves up the likes of Levellers, Blondie, Fightstar, British Sea Power, Frank Turner, Ghost of a Thousand, The Damned, Carbon/Silicon and the Australian Pink Floyd Show.

It’s also Wireless time in Central London, with Morrissey and Counting Crowes among the headliners in Hyde Park.

We’re also heading to Wales for Wakestock, where the line up includes Funeral For A Friend and Mark Ronson.

A Day With Nick Cave
From breakfast to the aftershow, R13 spent a day in the company of Mick Harvey as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds played Dublin.

Alkaline Trio Return
“The death bells ring out with the release of Alkaline Trio’s sixth album, their first for V2/Cooperative, produced by Josh Abraham, who has twiddled knobs for the likes of Linkin Park, Slayer and 30 Seconds To Mars. Some may wonder whether the band would stick to the same formula, or perhaps they might decide to sing happy and joyful songs whilst expressing their love of Jesus…er, no, don’t worry folks, Matt Skiba hasn’t crossed back over from the darkside, and the band still know how to pen a good catchy Punk/Rock song about death, booze, drugs and romance.”

Coming Soon
