Leeds & Reading Coverage
There will be those happy to argue the case for what is the best festival in the UK and which weekend is the ultimate for fun in a field with musical accompaniment, so let’s not get sidetracked with that debate. However with Metallica and Rage Against the Machine topping the bill, Leeds and Reading certainly make a strong case for 2008, and that’s before you begin to explore some of what was on offer elsewhere around the two sites.
Room Thirteen returned to Leeds once again last weekend, plus had people at Reading too. Go
here to read reviews for both key headliners, plus Queens of the Stone Age, Bloc Party, Tenacious D, Manic Street Preachers, Gallows, Feeder, Alkaline Trio, Less Than Jake, Biffy Clyro, Pendulum, Anti-Flag, MGMT and many more at Leeds.
Some of our Reading coverage is up, including The Killers and the infamous poor sound, plus We Are Scientists, MSI and Taking Back Sunday, with more to follow
here.
More festival gubbins later.
AC/DC Are Back!
New album ‘Black Ice’ is out in October, with a world tour to follow: will it be Download, Leeds and Reading or their own major show like the massive Milton Keynes event in 2001?
That’s getting slightly ahead of ourselves though as we don’t expect to know for a while yet. What we do know is that their new single, ‘Rock N’ Roll Train’ is rather excellent.
Go here to find out where you can hear it. Then go listen.
The Previously Advertised Festivals
V is a far cry from Leeds and Reading, but they did serve up Muse and the Kings of Leon this year.
We went to the Stafford leg, where you’re less likely to meet some wannabe celeb trying to look cool. Read a few reviews from the weekend
here.
T on the Fringe is now known as The Edge Festival, and once again we dipped in for a couple of gigs at the music strand of the Edinburgh Fringe.
We saw Kate Nash play the Corn Exchange and
Digitalism at the Liquid Rooms.
We’ve also been at
The Green Man Festival and back in the distant past otherwise known as July headed out to Spain for
Benicassim where acts playing included Sigur Ros, Leonard Cohen and My Bloody Valentine.
Interviews
Recent interviews added include former R13 band of the week
