Pennywise - The Black Market World Tour

Opening for Rise Against would strike fear into a lot of bands as Rise Against put on one hell of a show, however, when your support band is the legendary Pennywise, that fear is non existent.

It would be fair to say half of the evening's crowd had braved the terrible weather to see Hermosa Beach punks, Pennywise, there was an eadded element of excitement as many of their fans thought they would never see this line-up again, it was obvious that they were very happy to see frontman Jim Lindberg back on stage.

Pennywise impressed the entire audience; ensuring that there was not a still body inside Brixton Academy throughout their set. The band also powered through an impressive number of songs at an incredible pace.

The four piece sounded great and showed everyone watching their set why they've had an impressive career that spans more than 25 years. Pennywise's set included tracks such as Something To Change and Society, however, the highlight of their set came in the form of a cover of The Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop which the whole crowd became involved with, singing along enthusiastically.

Of course, no Pennywise set would be complete without Fuck Authority and Bro Hymn both of which made the room explode with excitement.

Pennywise put on a stellar show and were the perfect opening act for punk heavyweights; Rise Against, and it was great to have them back in London.
