Von Hertzen Brothers - New Day Rising Tour

Finland’s number one rock act; Von Hertzen Brothers made their welcome return to the UK to support their latest album; New Day Rising and with only three dates on this short UK tour, we were lucky enough to head out to the London show to catch the Finnish rockers in action at the once uber popular, now almost forgotten, Tufnell Park venue, The Dome.

Von Hertzen Brothers had pulled in an impressive crowd, there was a buzz of excitement in the room as fans eagerly awaited to hear VHB classics and new material from the band’s recently released sixth studio album. They were welcomed to the stage with rapturous applause, with their fans seeming to enjoy that mix between old and new songs with equal enthusiasm, singing along when they knew the words, with mass cheering at the beginning and end of each song.

Much like when we have seen VHB before, they proved why they are so successful, their songs beautifully seam together prog, metal and pop elements which shows them to be not only talented musicians who can apparently turn their hands to anything but prolific song writers. The brothers’ songs are intelligent, despite the different genres they cover; the band do not make their songs overly complicated but manage to have a good diversity of sounds.

Von Hertzen Brothers’ drive and enthusiasm came pouring off the stage, they were clearly excited and proud to share their new material with a UK crowd for the first time, and their fans matched that enthusiasm; eagerly lapping up every melody, hook and lyric.

These guys never fail to disappoint, they’re an impressive bunch of musicians who are best listened to in a live setting. Download Festival is their only scheduled UK date for the remainder of the year, we highly recommend you checking them out if you’re going to be at Donington.
