Following last years postponement proposals are underway for the emergence of a new Greater Manchester festival based around the Deeply Vale and Bickershaw festivals of the 1970s. Both festivals have acquired legendary status over the years and the organisers are keen to see some of those artists involved first time around make a return.

A statement on the official website gave some hints as to the potential line up:

Discussions as to line up for the proposed Bickershaw Deeply Vale Greenfield Family Music and Arts Festival 2007 are taking place, from the original 1972 performers we have approached Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead who is available with his band to come from the USA as is comedian Tommy Chong from Cheech and Chong, Roger Chapman from Family has been approached and we feel it would be great to see Donovan and Ray Davies from the Kinks back at Bickershaw.
Other artists who have shown an interest in supporting the event include Andy Rourke from the Smiths, Doves, Elbow, Steve Hillage/System 7, members of The Chameleons, Clint Boon from Inspiral Carpets, The Fall, Durutti Column, Goldblade, Tractor , Fast Cars,The Cougars, Johhny Vegas, Marc Lard Riley, Phil Jupitus and many many others

As yet there is no confirmation that the festival will go ahead this year as licensing applications have yet to be submitted by the organisers, but they are hoping that this can be moved forward very soon.
