Professor Green - 'Hard Night Out'

Apparently Professor Green is Hackney’s original battle rapper (if he was the first, who was he battling against??), coming straight outta East London. He doesn’t give a shit about the police, he’s got no time for authority, and he’s hard as nails, yeah? You got that? You better, blood!

‘Hard Night Out’ is a track about a night out that gets a bit hairy, there’s booze, there’s girls, there’s fights and there’s police. This is the ultimate gist of the lyrics. Prof. G (as I’ve now dubbed him) is in the middle of all the kerfuffle (not his choice of verb) but can’t be arsed with it all, dude!

In a choice lyric, Prof. G pleads is innocence pronouncing “I wasn’t looking at her arse, it was looking at me”. Hard times indeed.

The backing music sounds like a teenage rock band doing a home recording in the bassists’ dad’s garage, fuzzy guitars, plonky bass and distant drums. It’s all a bit messy, it’s very aged, and it would only appeal to 15-17 year old boys that still don’t know better.

Oh, and the B-Side is Prof. G spraying his verbal faecal matter all over Brahms ‘Hungarian Dance #5’.
