Slightly Quirky

This single from the interestingly monikered Skeletons & The Empty Pockets, a bluesy pop and roll five piece from Sheffield, has a large dose of Supergrass about it; foot stompingly catchy drumming, big, but not too heavy riffs and tuneful keyboards make for some decent but unoriginal tunes. The vocals and melody on ‘Oh Brother, Oh Sister’ are very early days Supergrass, apart from a slightly quirky guitar riff. It is catchy and danceable though despite the familiarity. The double a side has plenty of vocal "ooh’s", a slightly darker feel and again is quite tuneful, the tracks are good, certainly they’re energetic and quite memorable in a poppy way with those insistent rolling beats, but very derivative so not particularly special.
