Djevara - The Rising Tide (part 1) Corsa Al Ribasso

‘The Rising Tide Corsa Al Ribasso’ is the first half of the new album from Djevara.

The tracks have elements of a variety of genres but the main focus seems to be on something raw, energetic with pronounced heavy guitar riffs and some progressive rock melodies. Each of the six tracks present is built on this foundation. From the opening track (‘Jesus vs Mohammed (Ali)’) there are some hard thumping drums and bass lines. The tracks that follow contain less thumps and a slightly more improved bouncier atmosphere, something sharper with more pleasant melodies, with some moments of a mellower style thrown in.

The vocals attributed to this release are complicated to describe, as they do not scream, screech or sing the lyrics, but tend to drone on in a moderately angry tone. At times the anger subsides but to be honest there is not much of an improvement. Even when the vocals do begin to sound a little more pleasurable to hear, such as on the title track, there is an incessant hum in the background that pushes you away. There are united harmonies that close the release well though.

The second part of the album is expected for released later in the year with a tour also in the works, so this snippet is something to warm you up in the meantime.
