Versus The Allegiance - Straight Lines

The very distinctive voice of Tom Jenkins hits you from the get go as Straight Lines kick off their debut single 'Versus The Allegiance'. With it's slight whine he leads the song from start to end. The track works through a stock standard mix of verse chorus and bridge but never feels tired.

Showing off his skill, Jenkins brings the pop punk twinge to the vocals in 'When in Doubt' with the verses pulling on the style heard from many north American "punk rock" bands. However that's where the comparison ends. The choruses bring in guitars that carry much more of an indie styled tempo and introduces you to the blending of styles that will quickly become this Welsh groups trademark.

'All My Friends Have Joined The Army' offers a quieter style that has a bit of the acoustic singer songwriter vibe. Before 'Visions' continues the acoustic vibe with lyrics and guitar taking centre stage and really showing off Jenkins's vocal abilities. His voice winding through the track evoking a slew of emotions.

Straight Lines are a band who take a wide variety of styles and blend them into an entirely appealing set of songs.
'Versus The Allegiance' should appeal to anyone who enjoys well crafted songs that successfully blend punk, rock and indie into a passionate energised mix.
