Darko - Self Titled EP

From the start to the end, multiple layers of subtle melodies are woven through the fast paced beats, making it clear that Darko are a band who have embraced the best aspects of hardcore, punk and indeed classic metal and are turning it into their sound.

'Blink' is a great example of where these boys shine. Guitars tease at the edge of your consciousness allowing Karl Sursham's bass beats to build a solid support for the driving vocals.
'Paper Mirrors' is a showcase for the skills of drummer Andy Lambert. Mixing up the tempos, Lambert holds the group rock steady throughout. 'We Are Here' is the song that cements Dan Smith as a punk vocalist who can mix it with the best of them and 'Knives' is an ode to Rob Piper and Chris Brown's guitars.

Although Darko's self titled EP, which is their debut, is still a bit rough around the edges, there is an undeniably infectious passion that ignites your energy and makes you move. It is an EP that hints at what Darko are capable of. With a bit of polish they will take the punk/metal scene by it's horns and give it a damn energetic shake.

I have every confidence in saying Darko are a band on the verge of greatness and that we'll be hearing a lot from them in the years to come.
