This Ain't Vegas's new single

This Ain't Vegas's new 2005 single includes 2 new tracks from the Sunderland youngsters. Since their 2003 debut album 'Blank lung captain', they have supported such bands as Fugazi, Q and not U to name a few. Their music is a vigorous blend of post-punk and progressive indie rock, creating a sound that tends to be quite popular in today's music scene.

The single begins with 'Escape', a mellow track in which the title suits the song well. Jagged guitars bless the song shuffling some very interesting minor chords and arpeggios rather than cursing the piece with power chords and four fret melodies. The listener is also treated with some nice duel vocal parts at the beginning of the song which tend to be admirably expressive.

The CD's second song, 'The Onlookers surround' is not quite as strong as the previous track, but follows in a similar sound with more duel vocals and some interesting guitar parts. The bass seems to play no significant part in the band's songs but manages to keep the pieces strong and steady so it's role isn't completely pointless.

Overall, the band has succeeded in creating a CD that proves original and aspiring. This Ain't Vegas can only be described as the dark side of Lockjaw's Second Monday in the sense that they tend to lean towards a more experimental side of music and create music that appeals to emotions rather than the ears. Overall, a great single that promises good things for future releases.
