Pop punk hits the spot

The single opens with ‘Anything’, the intro is longer than the fast paced and energy fuelled tune itself and it’s over far too fast, Maker are such teases, hitting you with such a great opener but making it barely a minute and a half long. They do the same with ‘Calendars’ which is another great pop-punk tune which burns itself out in 90 odd seconds, damn. ‘I-91’ is full on, with downbeat lyrics and lasts long enough to get you dancing. ‘Stand By Me’ is epic length in comparison to the others, it’s like Brand New meets The Get Up Kids; quite heavy at times with fuzzy guitars and an urgent tone which makes it great to thrash about to like a maniac; a brilliant tune.

All the tracks on this release are super catchy and slightly rough around the edges; the fuzzy guitars, emotional vocals and angsty lyrics make them brilliant to sing along to at top volume; it’s tempting to keep comparing them to other bands, but when it comes down to it they make great music so who cares.
