Let's Talk Daggers - Blanket ep

Somewhat akin to an adrenaline shock in musical form, East Sussex trio Let's Talk Daggers' second ep 'Blankets' is just over 10 minutes of rabid genre-hopping, serrated riffs topped with overwrought vocals.

Drawing comparisons with current UK mathcore darlings Rolo Tomassi, 'Blankets' is not for the faint-hearted listener; effortlessly running the gamut from merciless Dillinger Escape Plan or Fantômas-style outbursts to dissonant riffs that come across like Robert Fripp on crack, all four tracks demand attention.

With only one other release to their name (2009's self-titled ep) it remains to be seen whether LTD have enough ideas to pull off a full-length release of the same calibre. If they do manage to pull it off, and, with the sheer amount of variation on display here there's every possibility that they will, then there's no reason that Let's Talk Daggers shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Rolo Tomassi or Architects.
