Marching soulfully through life experiences

Here we welcome Glaswegian songbird Lizzie Nightingale with her debut single 'Left Right Left', an elaborate march through her personal experiences, told to us through deep and soulful vocals.

In keeping with the title there is a distinct marching beat throughout the track. Unfortunately the drumbeat does initially prove distracting as it does seem disjointed from everything else going on. It's also off putting when you are trying to appreciate the complexity and variation of vocals and instrumentals running throughout this track. There really is a lot on offer here to comprehend and it does feel a little overwhelming upon the first listen. But give it a go, as this is a song worth a few listens to be able to take in what Ms. Nightingale is presenting to you. It's also only after a few listens that you can begin to appreciate the wonderful richness of her voice.

As a debut this track oozes potential but it might be a bit 'too much' as an introductory vehicle to her talents. But it can be pretty much assured that in the near future you will see Lizzie Nightingale being heralded as the new darling of Radio 2's listeners.
