Can you say Guilty Pleasure?

Avril Lavigne. You cannot not have an opinion about her, this popstrel is about to turn double platinum in the UK with her second album 'Under My Skin' and 'He Wasn't' is her fourth single from it, certain to be a hit.

I can tell you instantly this song sticks in your head, it's phenomenally upbeat and catchy. Perhaps she's taken a note from boyfriend Deryck Whibley's pop-punk band Sum 41 one with this three minute barrage of pure power pop filled with catchy sing along choruses, pounding drums and killer riffs. Probably one of the better choices for a single from her album, and a big step up from the last single, the 'please feel sorry for me' single 'Nobody's Home', which was a big ballad that took itself way too seriously. I can easily say that this is going to be a huge guilty pleasure song, as it's inoffensive and pleasing to the ear, little girls will love the 'Na na nana, he wasn't what I wanted what I thought no, he didn't even open up the door, he never made me feel like I was special, he wasn't what I was really looking for' easy to relate to chorus, as well as an older more pop oriented female audience.

A step up from the late 90's pop princesses Britney and Christina, Avril showcases her ability to write catchy power pop songs once more on this single, probably her best since the irritably titled 'Sk8er Boi'. World domination continues to beckon for Avril, and honestly if you have a soft spot of pop, Avril's probably the artist with the most potential you're going to find within the genre.
