Scratchy punky indie

Bandname has an indie-punk feel, sometimes with a 90s edge and on occasion they make you think 60s pop, but the album as a whole mixes so many influences and sounds that they come up trumps with a really distinctive sounding record which is very of the moment.

The album is very reminiscent of early Primal Scream at times, vocally also, as Bobby Gillespie keeps coming to mind. There are also shades of Jesus and Mary Chain and Dinosaur Jr in there but then you get splashes of other things, fast paced punk-rock and alt-rock bands like Pretty Girls Make Graves. Scuzzy distortion overlays everything, both sets of vocals (male and female) are solid, sometimes barely surfacing above the layers of lo-fi guitar and drums but tuneful and carrying some strong melodies nonetheless.

The album's scratchy, distorted exterior hides some great melodic moments, nicely catchy choruses, quirky little riffs, all in all, a collection of proper indie-punk songs you can dance about to and sing along to at top volume like 'Take Me Home', a bouncy, fast paced, catchy and very short track at under two minutes; the perfect punky indie-pop song. This is an album that gets better with repeated listens, something new always popping out to surprise you, there are some real gems here waiting to be discovered.
