Split CD of Italy's finest

Kicking things off on this split CD are Italy's finest, Lester & The Landslide Ladies. The band have been around since 2002 and play an eclectic mix early glam rock, 70's era Brit punk, and power pop. The result is a sound of infectious, high energy punk and I love it.

Lester and The Landslide Ladies have played over 600 European shows and have toured the likes of Hanoi Rocks. From the get go, these six songs ooze energy and passion, making it a real treat to listen to. 'F**k Me Mommy' is a great album opener, three minutes of infectious, catchy and melodic pop punk. 'Cherry Stitches' and 'I Don't Wanna Be With You' are two more infectious pieces of pop-punk, you cannot help but enjoy these tracks and get sucked in. I cannot fault any of the bands six tracks; their sound isn't exactly original, but their music is well executed and sounds amazing. Lester and The Landslide Ladies have created some great punk rock 'n' roll, that's well worth a listen too.

Ever heard the saying "Can't keep a good man down"? Well, after listening to this new split CD from Kevin K and Lester & The Landslide Ladies, it seems that Kevin K is a good man and still has the ability to create melodic punk rock 'n' roll better than the rest. After 35 years on the music scene, you'd hope he'd be able to create a good tune, and these six new songs confirm that he can.

The CD offers twelve tracks, six from Kevin K and from Lester And The Landslide Ladies. Kevin K's tracks take you back to the 70's punk scene - 'Too Much Too Soon', which lyrically tells the story of the Dolls demise, the track sounds great on disc, and I can't imagine how good it would sound live. To shake things up a bit, there's a likable version of Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' which with a harder guitar edge to it, but the vocal work somewhat is terrible. That being said Florida's blues legend Old Man Crack on harmonica and chorus vocals. I guess at 85 years old I shouldn't have expected too much. Kevin K certainly has a way with mid tempo melodic rock 'n' roll and these six tracks have his signature sound all over them.

This CD is a lot of fun, definitely worth a listen, for me though, the first six tracks are the best.
