Kodiak Jack - Your Death My Glory

When it comes to knowing how to combine just the right ingredients to create an all out rock infused album, Portsmouth-based band Kodiak Jack have hit the nail on the head with their current release. The band, consisting of Bryn Roberts (vocals), Matt Forster (drums), Kev Farren (bass), Jeff Arnold (lead guitar) and Jon Karp (guitar and backing vocals) have already released (and sold out) two EPs on Angry Badger Records and are now releasing their debut album 'Your Death: My Glory', which is set to bring the band to an all-new level of success.

With this album the band has been successful in creating one of those releases that are very hard to find, because you don't need to skip through it, you want to listen from start to finish. It opens with the ear piercing sharpness of 'Crossfire,' and what follows are some, solid guitar riffs and pleasing melodic rock numbers. With the rock-hard guitar solos making the songs even more inviting, combined with the smashing of drums and edgy vocal contribution, the songs are enjoyable on the ears.

Among the more sturdy rock elements of the songs are some softer and more tender moments such as the gentle tinkering of guitars of 'My Condition'. This lighthearted break in the centre of a thumping album is perfect and really shows the different techniques the band is able to achieve. The juxtaposition of something simple and gentle, beautiful and warm vocals alongside the gruffness and fast paced tunes that surrounds it is incredible.

'Your Death: My Glory' is an album that sounds truly epic.
