West Country originator of Shit Hop unleashes his love

West country charm has never really established itself in contemporary music. Until now, it's just been The Wurzels that have brought to the fore that delicate and decadent accent, those sweet countryside sensibilities and the obsessions with combine harvesters. But an eccentric music creator by the name of Kid Carpet has arrived to restore the public's faith in the lower west shires.

"Hello." he says, "I'm Kid Carpet and I make Kiddy Disco Punk and Shit Hop music out of plastic instruments and toys and a sampler. Its all stuck together with sellotape and sometimes I sort of shout over the top. I do guitar solos which are ACE and I fuckin love it." His self-assessment says it all.

'Your Love' is a toy-riddled bout of sickly sweet pop with simple lyrics and a very DIY feel. Punk Disco Care Bears would dance to this song. 'Little Atomic Bomb' is like a particularly twisted nursery rhyme, with a sort of spinning baby's mobile theme tune and strange end is nigh dance instructions narrated over the top. 'Bristol Carpet Factory' really lays on the west country, like a radio jingle rave, it's very funny the first few times.

A strange and original single, worth keeping a look out for the accompanying album 'Ideas and Oh Dears', just out of curiosity. It fun-filled slice of Toy-hop beats and cut and paste creation, a funny five minutes.
