The Dirt Tracks - Never Been To Mars

Having already been a hit across much of Europe with their debut album "Puppet", The Dirt Tracks release their new single 'Never Been To Mars' with high hopes.

Having originally formed in 2000 under the name Oddshow, the band have spent the last few years not only going through various line up changes but developing a sound they could call their own, and it sounds like this Spanish 5 piece, which is comprised of Karl (sample), Masic (drums), Miquel (bass), Rafa (guitar) and Coma (guitar/vocals) have managed to do so with this single.

'Never Been To Mars' certainly has its roots as a melody driven tune, taking a unique and original perspective on indie rock. It's difficult to pin point any one specific delightful element, but it has that overall "je ne sais pas" about it as the melodies run throughout, synth can be detected subtly while voices don't jump out at you as much as they sit perfectly alongside the music. The lyrics "I've never been to mars, I've never seen the stars" are also simple but effective.

Although nothing pierces your heart, flicks your ears or catches your attention for longer than a few minutes, something remains intriguing about this band and hopefully there is more to come, to truly get to know The Dirt Tracks.
