The Callback Academy - Smarter Than Your Average Bear
Brighton rockers The Callback Academy are ready to make their mark on the UK music scene with the release of their debut EP 'Smarter Than Your Average Bear'.
As soon as the CD starts playing you're hit with an American pop punk sound, which has been nicely dashed with UK rock undertones. Opening track 'Emergency Power Sketch' is a fast paced track, packed with rumbling guitars, a heavy bassline and pounding drums - a great opener. It's definitely the strongest track of the four on this EP.
Second track 'Dual 27' is a lot slower in comparison, but it really highlights the vocal talents of Jonny Davis. It's great to see a young band who aren't afraid to showcase both sides of their talents on such a short EP.
'Smarter Than Your Average Bear' is a great sounding debut release from a band that is full of potential. The Callback Academy are definitely worth keeping an eye on throughout 2012, because I think we'll be hearing a lot more from them.
