Dark New Day - New Tradition

Dark New Day release their eagerly awaited sophomore album New Tradition.

The American rockers released their debut album; Twelve Year Silence back in 2005, before going on hiatus in 2006 to allow band members to return to their other projects which include Evanescene and Sevendust.

New Tradition features tracks that were written back in 2005/06 as well as new material written within the last year. Despite some tracks being dug out of Dark New Day's history every song sounds relevant and powerful today which is a huge credit to their song writing abilities.

One of the stand out tracks on the album is Don't Need You where drummer Will Hunt lays down some impressive percussion and frontman Brett Hestla unleashes the true power of his vocals. It's a high octane number that sucks you in from the start and has a real power anthem feel to it.

The musicianship heard on New Tradition is extremely impressive, and the band are extremely tight, it's the sort of thing you'd expect to hear from a full time band, not a side project.

New Tradition isn't groundbreaking, but it's packed full of strong rock songs that are radio friendly and get stuck in your head. Dark New Day pack plenty of catchy rifts into their music; their songs are angry yet melodic. The album makes for an easy and enjoyable listen.

Judging by the sounds heard on New Tradition it is fair to say that Dark New Dark have avoided the dreaded sophomore album slump, and have produced a fantastic second album. Lets hope we don't have to wait another seven years for them to drop their next album.
