This EP will go down 'In History'

When you get out of the frame of mind that every single female fronted band sounds like Paramore then you can truly listen to and appreciate Held By Horses and their EP In History

The first song You Win Some, You Lose Some suffers at the start, the instruments outweigh the singing which is a shame because when she's finally able to be heard it's clear that Harriet Reynolds is very talented. The melody is very infectious, the song itself is beautiful in a way, it's about people leaving each other and moving on, a feeling that I'm sure everyone can relate to.

A song about getting drunk, it's been done a million times over but it's relatable and that's what makes Little Water so awesome! It starts off with a rough sounding guitar that almost sounds Rise Against inspired. During the singing Harriet puts the British label on this band as her accent becomes very distinct - imagine if Lily Allen had a rock band backing her.

The next song features Renz Byrne, never heard of him? He's the singer in Never Means Maybe, after you've listened to this album go and listen to them! The Last Word (ft. Renz Byrne) A beautiful message about not being afraid of who you are 'Hold your head up high' is one of those lyrics that's a thought provoker. Renz makes his mark on this song at the end, with his rocky voice cementing it as an amazing song, lyrically and rhythmically.

Down and Out begins with a lovely little accoustic guitar plucking away, before picking up and adding some drums and electric guitar. Once again the lyrics are the main talking point of this song, a song about having no money, it's like the band sat down and said 'what happens to everyone?' and they thought of these songs. The rhythm gets in your head and nests there. Before you know it the songs over and you're left thinking 'where's the drop?' it sounded like a big rock drop was coming but hey, always leave 'em wanting more I suppose.

The last song Virtues has a fantastic riff accompanied by awesome drumming and great singing. A song about what it means for them to be in a band and all the people who doubt them, great finish to such a great EP, it's one of those songs you'll be singing to yourself for a while.

Quite frankly five songs isn't enough, it whets the appetite and now I just want more! In History is a fantastic EP from this great five piece. Look out for these guys!
