Silver Story - Art & Vandals

St.Helens quartet Silver Story has unveiled their third EP Art & Vandals. This four track release is comprised of three new tracks and a revamped version of My Empire, which was originally featured on their first EP. With influences from Foo Fighters and Nirvana to Bob Marley and The Beatles, there is no wonder the style of music created has an intriguing and rather mixed sound that will appeal to music lovers of a variety of genres.

Kicking off with Jaded, the EP opens with a heavy guitar riff that is supported well into the song with some rather hard hitting melodies. Although My Empire begins quite mellow, it is nothing of the sort. The powerful pop punk bouncy at its core can't be ignored and subconsciously invites a listener to bop along. Two and half minutes in, the track explodes full swing and guitars eagerly shred the sound barrier with their sharp playing. Of Dream and Nightmares is the sleek follow up track, erupting into a hectic mash of guitar rhythms and bass lines with some enthusiastic drumming and a gruffer vocal. The release concludes with The Fear. This thumping closing tune not only demonstrates harmonies a little more and also the lengths these guys can reach as they combine their pop punk and rock elements while inserting a much heavier tone at intervals...the perfect track to close with.

The vocal contribution on this record comes from Alex McCabe and really fits within the musical elements of the songs. At times of uproar he can belt out the lyrics, he can also be more tender at times while at others he injects a little aggression.

Silver Story have the potential to be an outstanding rock band and play some brilliant rock anthems. These songs can easily be imagined played live with the crowd yelling the words back, so watch out for tour dates soon!
