Alasa Campus release debut mini album

When Daniel Dorney and Ryan Potter met back in college they probably never imagined that together, they'd form a band who are possibly the most exciting thing to come out of Hertfordshire since the Harry Potter films. Two more members and a slot playing at Bombay Bicycle Club's official after show party later, Alaska Campus are set to release their debut mini album When We Were Young.

Listening to When We Were Young it's hard to imagine that this is a band who started out with a post hardcore sound. Opening track You, Me and the Sun is truly infectious, with it's thumping bass line and slow build to an anthemic sing along. Roseanna is a seemingly sweet but mellow love song but just as you're about to dismiss it as the obligatory slow song, in come the epic sounding guitar riffs and cymbal clashes showing that Alaska Campus aren't afraid to do things a bit differently.

Story of Alaska is probably the softest song on the album and really showcases Potter's charmingly British vocals. However, it's the bouncing, lively and shamelessly catchy Mon Reve which makes the album, Indie rock at its finest and a song which you'll happily have stuck in your head for days.

When We Were Young is refreshingly diverse and each track oozes quality, Alaska Campus have created something to be proud of.
