Laid Back Indie-Rock

Essentially an indie-rock album but with a mix of emo, punk and pop intertwining throughout, Kite Party's take on things is twinkly, full of quality riffs, energetic and supremely catchy - it is one of those properly addictive records that you find yourself craving in between listens and rush to get your next fix of.

Opener Welcome To Miami and follow up Runner showcase some of the things that make this record so instantly likeable - namely an easy, laid back feel and sweet sing along vocal lines, the record has almost a surf-pop feel at times but is also vaguely reminiscent of The Walkmen's brand of oh-so-cool indie with jangly guitars chiming under the surface and hummable melodies. The Philadelphia mob have a DIY ethic and this is reflected in the production which is wonderfully minimal - slight distortion at times, open and full of echoes with each instrument distinct and raw sounding, nothing sounds tampered with or cleaned up and the songs here really benefit from this approach.

We mention a minimal kind of approach to the production, but don't be fooled, these tunes are fully formed and almost epic at times (look no further than Hightower's skin tingling riffs and quiet/loud dynamics), the occasionally fiddly guitar part, layers of keys and nicely husky vocals on tracks like Arizona give a rich and warm tone which should appeal to more than just fans of indie. We like this record very much and recommend you all pick up a copy from animalstylerecords.
