Essex Derweze

There appears to be a bit of a music revelation going on over in East Essex, earlier this year Future Ages were propelled on the scene to much acclaim and now we have The Darvaza Hole following suit. This female fronted trio may not have band members with the musical history of Future Ages but they are by no means lacking in the talent department.

Playing simple riffs is not what The Darvaza Hole are about. Sardanapalian EP may only have five tracks but each one is overflowing with high octane, intense, quality tunes with plenty of tempo changes bordering on the chaotic - yet all played with perfection. The styles are varied too, Seizure and Bus Stop are the in-your-face style, while tracks like Let It Lie andMaggot are more harmonic, letting Laura Coban demonstrate her soulful vocals.

The production quality could do with a little upgrade but as there's no weak track here and with Bus Stop being the only track under five minutes, Sardanapalian EP not only delivers quality but value for money too.
