Won't keep me up all night...

Plucky guitars, jolty vocals. My, my. Fleeing New York are an interesting bunch, sounding like the Pixies dancing with Toots and The Maytals. It's odd really, shuddering guitars, frantic drumming, girl vs. boy vocals... maybe this is what Straylight Run would sound like if they were a happier bunch. 'Up Up Up' is catchy and kitschy. XFM will love it and NME have already have given it their seal of approval so all the cool Indie kids will be wearing Fleeing New York Badges they've already ordered off Ebay.

The other song on this CD, 'At Night', isn't as catchy as 'Up Up Up' and doesn't make its mark in quite the same way, although it does show they can be versatile. Personally, it's really obvious to see the first song will be the big radio hit because it's catchy and summery and it doesn't get boring after a few listens.

Take it or leave it? It's a decent single, nothing above average XFM fodder but give it a listen because it might just take your fancy.
