Bless Their Pointed Little Heads

Burnt by the sun psychedelic rockers Golden Void are releasing Rise to the Out of Reach as part of the Record Day extravaganza again later this month and it does them no harm to be curtailed to just the duo of recordings such are the quality of the jams herein.

The title track teases out a glowing melody over a rolling beat and is as close to pretty and pop as Golden Void will probably get. Smiling Raven opens like Funkadelic's Maggot Brain if Eddie Hazel had been told to imagine he'd won the lottery rather than his mother had died such is the middle of the desert heat, bleached euphoria of Isaiah Mitchell's fleet fingered guitar playing. It all feels like watching the day saying, 'sleep well' to a baked Woodstock crowd at 4am edited into four minutes. No mean feat.
