Upside Crown

On paper Upside Crown sounds like such a good band, progressive metal with electro influence, who wouldn't like that. A bit of heavy metal followed by some dancy beats, people love that these days, especially with Enter Shikari in the midst of things. However in disappointing fashion this band fail to live up to the expectation that they have set out in front of me.

The mini album starts with Disgrace and I'm not going to give a pun that says that this band is a 'disgrace' but let's just say that this song leaves a lot to be desired, the vocals sound like they belong in the 80s and by the time the song ends it feels like years have gone from your life. Going through Two Lives which starts with a hopeful piano introduction, this album only becomes more monotonous in it's riffs and vocal work. By the end of this song it's becoming obvious that this band is just a one trick pony with nothing up their sleaves.

I was right the album finishes with Chains and shows no real progress from the first song. A band that promises to be Progressive metal and electro should live up to that, you're not electro if you have one tiny bit of electro in the middle of a song.

This band are good at what they do but what they do isn't very good, the vocals have been done and dusted a million times and the riffs are repetitive and quite boring.
