Pigs - Gaffe

New York's noise trio; Pigs, are set to release their short but sweet EP Gaffe.

Having never heard of Pigs before (the band, not the animals) I did not know what to expect from Gaffe; an EP which is being released as a stopgap between their debut album and their sophomore effort, which is still in the works. Having no expectations, it turns out I was pleasantly surprised by what the three-track release offered.

The title track acts as the opener and a bone rattling bassline soon comes rumbling out of the speakers, the band claim to have taken a more relaxed approach with this EP, but that is not evident in the music heard on Gaffe.

The EP is dark and delicious; offering plenty to sink your teeth into. Sandwiched between the opening and closing tracks is a fantastic cover of Cheap Trick's Elo Kiddies; Pigs have made the song their own giving it an Alice Cooper vibe simply divine!

The release of Gaffe coincides with Pigs European tour, which sadly misses the UK. Gaffe is a stellar release and is well worth a listen; it is guaranteed to leave you wanting more.
