A Venomous Grand Design

With Empire of Rats impressing with their 2012 EP No Peace, Get This Right Records get it right once again with the Delaware destroyers' latest release. Clocking in barely over the twelve minute mark, Doubledealer know how to get in, do their damage and get out, no questions asked. As soon as Tipping Point is unleashed, it's abundantly clear that this is yet another slab of metallic hardcore that fans of the genre are going to drool over. Bringing to mind the likes of Ringworm and Hatebreed, the riffs are caustic, the breakdowns are huge, and the vocals are angry as fuck; the title track being the perfect showcase for all of the above.

A couple of the songs are almost too short, losing strength through unfinished ideas and rushed endings. So Sayeth (featuring Full of Hell's Dylan Walker) is Doubledealer at their very best however, and being the longest song on the EP it surely proves that what the world needs is more from this band, not less. This is a raw, unpolished, full-on thrash metal bastard assault, executed by a brilliant hardcore band. Heathen Rising might not succeed as a game changer and as such suffers slightly from its one-dimensional approach, but it steams past at full pelt, solid and uncompromising in its delivery. We can but hope for a full album in the near future.
