Iron Chic - The Constant One

New York punksters Iron Chic have been making an impact in the industry since their introduction back in 2008 and their recent offering is The Constant One.

Opening the album is the instrumental The End, before blasting on with Bogus Journey, a simple yet energetic song infused with elements of pop punk through the pounding of drums and waves of guitar riffs. The singer's vocals are tough and sit somewhere between singing and shouting the lyrics in gruff tones. If you are looking for tracks that offer anything other than this, then you have come to the wrong place as this is pretty much how the album continues from the beginning of track two all the way through to the end of track eleven.

There is the occasional change in direction with elements that stand out more than others. For example, (Castle) Numbskull adds some opening atmospherics; Prototypes is a slice of high speed energy that has been inserted into the album with something a little harder sprinkled on top at times; Spooky Action at a Distance opens with a thirty seconds electronic injection while A Serious House on Serious Earth takes things down a notch and becomes slower paced.

If you are looking for an album that has guitars bursting from the seams, drums that pound off walls and vocals that are attempting to break free from their constraints and join their fellow musicians for some harmonies/gang vocals then Iron Chic has hit the metaphorical nail on the head with The Constant One.
