Paradigm

Like so many other bands out there, strong friendship forms the basis of this band, having formed when Alex Blake and Angel D joined bassist Giulio, several songs down the line the trio turned it in to something more serious and Paradigm was officially born. After lots of hard work in the studio, this London based trio have come to the point of release for their EP Realize; playing music which combines elements from a selection of genres from alternative rock/grunge to goth and even pop.

The vocals from Alex Blake are haunting and at times chilling, sounding very Goth infused a la Nick Cave. At times the strong melodies make you want to sing along with him, particularly for the chorus in Your Darker Side.

Musically although the four tracks follow a similar path with light and subtle verses yet electric choruses that tend to strive on crashing drums and guitar strums, each has their own stand out elements. Things get kicked off with a drum roll in Desire before guitar riffs take hold. There is an initial acoustic guitar that draws you in on Your Darker Side and an almighty guitar solo midway through. Strangers has more of an anthemic touch to the choruses with guitars that seem to go all to successfully pull in the listener.

The closing track The Miracle takes things in a whole new direction as the band roll out a piano to accompany the rest of the music. It starts slow, gently building into something incredible. This is the most stand-out tune on the release both musically and vocally.

Realize is the perfect introduction to the sounds of Paradigm and is due for release on Friday 8th April, through Sumind Records.
