Moke's first single from their second and last release on Fruit-Pie Records

Now defunct, UK based Indie super group Moke have had their closet 2003 album; 'Carnival' pushed into the limelight by Fruit Pie Records after almost 2 years of it's original release date. In order to promote (and possibly even celebrate) the album's new home at Fruit Pie, the record label have decided to release 'Slide' off the band's last ever full-length.

'Slide' is certainly one of the better tracks off of 'Carnival' and provides a very refreshing sound that ties in with its summer release date. It begins with a nice sombre acoustic part and a rather silky vocalist singing over the top. The introduction of the song is structured very well with its repetition and infectious rhythm.

Unfortunately the song takes a rather concerning turn for the worse. Breaking into a 'grunge' riff and, dare I say a 'puddle of mud' chorus. It's certainly quite a contrast to the beginning of the 'slide' where we hear a very pop-friendly introduction then a rather spoilt chorus. The band has managed to piece them well together, but to be quite honest the song doesn't quite blend together. An amusing single that doesn't quite give the right impression of the band and their album.
