A Big-Hearted Song For The Summer

Having toured with the likes of Athlete, Ian Brown, The Pogues, The Music and, more recently, Coldplay, the Reading-based quartet Morning Runner follow up their debut E.P 'Drawing Shapes' with the big-hearted single 'Gone Up In Flames'.

After an up-tempo intro of fresh sounding piano, drums and rhythmic guitar the vocals burst in, punchy, brash and reminiscent of Starsailor's James Walsh. Influenced by bands such as Radiohead, The Strokes and Elbow, Morning Runner have on occasions been likened to Coldplay, however, 'Gone Up In Flames' has a much more spangly, upbeat vibe and fresh summer sound than is usual for Chris Martin and his band. 'Gone Up In Flames' is an ambitious sounding single - a big song with a great melody that will be perfectly at home on the big festival stages that Morning Runner are set to play later this summer.

The band's own description of their music as 'big-hearted and brash' seems to sum up their brand of catchy indie-pop; keep an ear open for them at this year's V-Festival in August.
